The foundation for a reliable parquet flooring system
OLI-AQUA PRIME 15.81 is a water-based, single-component primer for sanded parquet and wood floors. It reduces edge bonding from the subsequent water-based finish, which can help reduce the risk of uneven gaps forming due to wood movement.
This ready-to-use roller-applied primer enhances the natural color of the wood and reduces the risk of visible overlaps. Its fast drying time allows the finishing system to be applied quickly.
Applications: Especially recommended for solid wood planks, end-grain blocks, renovated floors, and parquet flooring over underfloor heating.
System compatibility: Formulated for use with OLI-AQUA DOMO 15.40, OLI-AQUA STANDARD 15.50, and OLI-AQUA TOP 51.20.
PRIME is not recommended beneath OLI-AQUA AUTHENTIC 51.30, as enhancing the wood color works against the desired raw wood effect. The primer is not intended as a standalone topcoat.
TEST STANDARDS
- GISCODE W2+
- EU Decopaint compliant
- Z-157.10-15, Z-157.10-16 (emissions-tested building product in accordance with DIBt principles in combination with the OLI-AQUA DOMO, STANDARD, TOP parquet sealers)
Prepare the substrate
The substrate must be dry, sound, professionally sanded, and free of old coatings, oil, grease, wax, silicone, care product residues, and sanding dust. For renovations, completely remove existing coatings and care product residues.
Sand the wood in stages using grit 80/100/120, then remove all dust thoroughly. On unknown or extractive-rich wood and on critical substrates, prepare a test area.
Plan the coating system
Apply one coat of OLI-AQUA PRIME 15.81, followed by two coats of OLI-AQUA DOMO 15.40, STANDARD 15.50, or TOP 51.20. Follow the technical data sheet for the respective parquet lacquer when applying it.
Apply the primer
Stir or shake thoroughly before use. Stir again occasionally during extended application. Apply undiluted, evenly and wet-on-wet, using the OLI water-based lacquer roller. Avoid lap marks and material buildup.
Work from a clean application container and do not pour the product directly onto the floor. Ensure good air circulation; avoid drafts and direct sunlight.
Allow to dry and apply the topcoat
Can be recoated after approx. 2–3 hours at +20 °C and 50% relative humidity. Once sufficiently dry, apply the specified OLI-AQUA intermediate sanding parquet lacquer on the same day, without intermediate sanding. Recoating promptly preserves the effect of minimizing edge bonding.
Do not apply more than two full-surface primer or lacquer coats per day. Apply the second lacquer coat no earlier than the following day and in accordance with the parquet lacquer’s technical data sheet.
Low temperatures, high humidity, large application quantities, and poor air circulation extend drying time.
Coverage and application conditions
Coverage: approx. 8–10 m²/l per coat. Application quantity: approx. 100–120 g/m².
Ideally, room, floor, and material temperatures should be +15 to +25 °C. Relative humidity: 40–75%; wood moisture content: maximum 12%. The room climate should match the expected average conditions during later use as closely as possible.
Application tool: OLI water-based lacquer roller, microfiber, 11 mm pile height. Clean tools with water immediately after use.
Refer to the current technical data sheet and safety data sheet.
