Professional 2K parquet lacquer for the highest levels of wear
OLI-AQUA TOP 51.20 is a water-based, two-component polyurethane parquet lacquer (2K-PU) for heavily to extremely heavily used parquet and wood floors. It combines very high resistance to abrasion, scratching, and chemicals with reliable application and a uniform surface finish.
For the highest levels of wear: In the tested system build-up, OLI-AQUA TOP 51.20 achieves the highest wear class, C, according to ÖNORM C 2354. This makes the parquet sealer particularly suitable for heavily frequented areas in hotels, restaurants, retail spaces, offices and administrative buildings, schools, and public facilities.
Other applications include high-quality living spaces, event areas, and on-site renovation of permanently installed wooden stairs. For sports parquet, the requirements for slip resistance under EN 14904 are met in the tested system build-up.
Application as a 2K system: OLI-AQUA TOP 51.20 is applied with OLI-AQUA Hardener 13.2 at a ratio of 10 parts lacquer to 1 part Hardener. For individual containers, the Hardener must be ordered separately; it is included in the sets.
Sheen levels: Extra-matt, matt, and semi-matt.
For living spaces and commercial areas with lower wear requirements, OLI-AQUA STANDARD 15.50 is a versatile alternative, available as either a 1K or 2K system. For floors subject to normal to heavy wear exclusively in residential areas, we recommend OLI-AQUA DOMO 15.40.
- ÖNORM C 2354 – highest load class C: Tested for scratch resistance, chemical resistance, adhesion strength, and deformability.
- EN 14904 – Sports flooring: Slip resistance has been tested. The requirements are met in the tested system build-up.
- DIBt / AgBB – Emissions: Emissions-tested construction product in accordance with DIBt principles. The requirements for emissions of volatile organic compounds under the AgBB evaluation scheme are met in the approved system build-up.
- EN 13501-1 – Fire behavior: Fire behavior depends on the respective floor and system build-up. The relevant test and approval documentation is decisive.
- GISCODE: W2/DD+.
- VOC: Compliant with the EU Decopaint Directive according to the product-specific classification.
Application of OLI-AQUA TOP 51.20
Prepare the substrate
The substrate must be dry, sound, professionally sanded, and free of old coatings, oil, grease, wax, silicone, care product residue, and sanding dust. When renovating, completely remove existing coatings and care product residue.
Sand the wood progressively using grits 80/100/120, then thoroughly remove all dust. For unknown or resin-rich woods and challenging substrates, prepare a test area.
Mix lacquer and Hardener
Stir or shake the base lacquer thoroughly. Then mix 10 parts OLI-AQUA TOP 51.20 with 1 part OLI-AQUA Hardener 13.2 thoroughly and let stand for ten minutes before application.
Only prepare partial quantities if the mixing ratio is followed precisely. Use mixed material within its pot life of approximately three hours. The end of the pot life is not necessarily indicated by a visible change. Do not extend the pot life of mixed material by adding water, fresh lacquer, or Hardener.
Choose the coating system
- With primer: Apply one coat of OLI-AQUA PRIME 15.81, followed by two coats of OLI-AQUA TOP 51.20.
- Without primer: Apply three coats of OLI-AQUA TOP 51.20.
- For colored surfaces: Apply one coat of OLI-NATURA HS Professional Oil, preferably as a 2K application, followed by two coats of OLI-AQUA TOP 51.20.
OLI-AQUA PRIME 15.81 is recommended for challenging parquet constructions and parquet installed over underfloor heating. The primer reduces edge bonding and the risk of visible lap marks.
For colored systems, work the HS Professional Oil in sparingly and evenly. Then buff completely dry with a white pad or a cotton cloth underneath. Remove any excess oil, as it may impair the adhesion of the coating. Allow to dry for at least 24 hours before applying the topcoat. Sanding is not required. Do not cover colored systems for at least seven days.
Apply evenly
Apply evenly wet-on-wet with the OLI water-based lacquer roller. Avoid lap marks and material buildup. Work from a clean application tray and do not pour the lacquer directly onto the floor.
Allow to dry sufficiently between coats. Apply no more than two full-surface primer or lacquer coats per day. Ensure good air circulation and avoid drafts and direct sunlight.
Coverage and application conditions
- Coverage: approx. 8–10 m²/l per coat.
- Application quantity: first coat approx. 100 g/m², subsequent coats approx. 120 g/m².
- Room, floor and material temperature: ideally +15 to +25 °C.
- Relative humidity: 40–75 %.
- Wood moisture content: maximum 12%.
- Application tool: OLI water-based lacquer roller, microfiber, 11 mm pile height.
Drying and intermediate sanding
Can be recoated and intermediate-sanded after approx. two to three hours at +20 °C and 50% relative humidity. Can be overcoated within 24 hours without intermediate sanding. After that, intermediate sanding with 120–150 grit is required.
An even intermediate sanding before the final coat improves the surface finish. Then remove all sanding dust.
- Carefully walkable: after approx. 5–6 hours.
- Limited load-bearing capacity: after approx. 12 hours.
- Fully load-bearing: after approx. 8–10 days.
Low temperatures, high humidity, high application quantities and poor air circulation extend drying time. Clean tools with water immediately after use.
For application and tested special system build-ups, refer to the current technical data sheet, the associated test reports and the safety data sheets.
Treat the freshly sealed surface gently during the initial curing phase. With the standard system using OLI-AQUA TOP 51.20, damp cleaning and initial care are possible no earlier than seven days later.
Regular cleaning
For routine cleaning, we recommend OLI AQUA Parquet Cleaner 15.94. It removes dirt, scuff marks, and greasy stains without leaving a care film. Vacuum or sweep up loose dirt beforehand. Then mop with 50 ml per 10 liters of water using a barely damp mop. Avoid standing water.
Initial care and refreshing
OLI AQUA Parquet Care 15.95 forms an additional protective care film and makes regular cleaning easier. It is suitable for initial care and for refreshing surfaces subject to wear. Available in Matt and Glossto match the desired appearance.
Deep cleaning as needed
For stubborn dirt or old care films, we recommend OLI AQUA intensive cleaner 15.97. It removes ingrained residue and prepares the floor for a new care treatment.
Follow the directions for use of each product and the current OLI care instructions for sealed wood floors. For sports parquet, follow the cleaning requirements for the tested system.
